What it says. The Minister said exports grew about 15% in April to July and that the 1 trillion dollar goods and services target for 2026-27 will be met, against 863 billion dollars in 2025-26. In May he said quality and packaging decide whether India captures global markets, and urged firms to study import data and replace imports with domestic production. He said nine trade pacts finalised in four years cover about two-thirds of global trade.

SMARTE view. The government is telling exporters that quality and packaging win markets. That matches what our buyers check first. The import substitution push is the other door: the same trade portal he points to shows which conductors and alloys come in from abroad, and each is a product we can make.
